This week our Senior Content Specialist, Ryan Lashley visited UTC South Durham to tell some students all about his role with bimstore and the journey he went on to get the qualifications and experience he needed to land his job with the team. He had a mission: to inspire the students, to set their aspirations high and work hard to carve out a successful career path for themselves.

UTC South Durham is a technical school for 14-19-year olds and specialises in advanced manufacturing and engineering. The school was created in partnership with the University of Sunderland, Hitachi Rail Europe and Gestamp Tallent to create a fast track pathway to a wide variety of rewarding professions.

Ryan spent the day discussing his career and the steps he had taken to secure his job with bimstore, from his initial apprenticeship scheme, his past experience and his role today. He also told them all about the bimstore apprenticeship scheme, the company, and the skills and talents needed secure a place.

Here’s what Ryan Lashley, Senior Content Specialist at bimstore had to say about his visit to UTC South Durham:

“It was great to see that there were many interested students in the apprenticeship scheme at bimstore. I hope I have inspired a few of the students to think about their careers, work hard and gain some excellent experience along the way.

Overall, it was a great day for both bimstore and UTC South Durham, a few of the students stayed behind to find out more about the bimstore apprenticeship scheme so we may have some new recruits in the future, watch this space.”

“Young people like Ryan are carving out fantastic careers and inspiring other young adults to set their aspirations very high. Ryan is a great example of this and I am thrilled he was able to share his journey with our students here at UTC.

What is encouraging is that bimstore are embracing the talent we have right here in the North East and that is inspiring the next generation. We will be sure to keep in touch to see where Ryan's career takes him."
