bimstore Spotlight: Hush Acoustics

The bimstore Spotlight gives readers the opportunity to learn all about the history, BIM journey and latest developments of some of the industry’s most recognisable names.

Hush Acoustics

Hush Acoustics are a veteran in the design and manufacture of sound reducing products and systems. Having been around for over 30 years, they are one of the longest established Acoustic product specialists in the United Kingdom.

The company was launched in 1984 in Scotland, the home of sound insulation and in 1998 was relocated to the North West of England where they have established a nationwide distribution network.

Hush Acoustics offer the industry their expertise in acoustic solutions for separating floors, ceilings and walls in both new build and refurbishment projects. Hush provide their soundproof products in various markets including domestic properties, where noise between floors and adjoining properties requires sound control. They also provide acoustic solutions for commercial markets such as hospitals, schools and leisure facilities where sound control is essential.

When it comes to BIM, Hush Acoustics strongly believe that the innovative process of designing and constructing building projects is the right way to go in the industry today. In terms of acoustic sound proofing, BIM is an extremely effective tool and provides specifiers with targeted data sets so that they can design accurate acoustic solutions for any project.

Hush have been partnered with bimstore for the past 3 years now, for designing and hosting content. Here’s what Rob Crampton, Managing Director at Hush Acoustics had to say about their BIM journey with bimstore so far:

“When Hush began to look at the creation of BIM content and families, we had many discussions to ensure our content would be accessible, easy to use, meet all the relevant standards and be hosted on a good platform. We had a few options and came to the decision that bimstore would be the company we would work with”.

“The creation of the content was a fantastic process and the team at bimstore understood exactly what we wanted and the experience we wished to share with our clients. We are really happy with the downloads and progress the industry has made with developing BIM and the work bimstore has done in ensuring this”.

Hush Acoustics believe that BIM is the way forward to ensure that all information is digital, and that specifications and the correct building processes are adhered to. The elimination of incorrect installation of products, cheaper specifications and the use of incorrect products are aspects of BIM which make it essential for Hush Acoustics, as designers and architects can specify correctly.
