bimstore invited customers to join us to hear all about what we've been up to and our future plans!

This month has seen the successful return of BIM Show Live, the UK’s leading BIM conference and here at bimstore, well we thought it was the ideal time to invite our manufacturers to join us for one of our futures workshops. And where better to hold it than at the venue for BIM Show Live, the fantastic Boiler Shop event space in our hometown of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our bimstore futures workshops are run annually and are an opportunity for us to give our manufacturers a detailed update on the future of bimstore, the services we can provide and how our upcoming developments will positively impact the promotion and distribution of our manufacturers content. Supporting our manufacturers and keeping them informed of bimstore’s progress and future plans is of great importance to us. We are proud to only support manufacturer’s content.

First up was Space Group CEO Rob Charlton who introduced attendees to the venue and offered some background into the history of the Boiler Shop as being the location where Stephenson’s famous locomotive, Rocket, was built. Rob gave some insight into the next steps for construction and industry 4.0 and also explained that BIM Show Live is about looking to the future and for those at the leading edge, the early adopters.

Next, we heard from Paul Broadfoot, Associate Director at Space Architects who spoke in depth about their current work with Lidl and the reasons behind their BIM adoption – two big ones being the number of efficiencies that can be made and the huge financial savings. Paul also demonstrated the way in which design and BIM has changed massively over the past eight years.

We heard from Kris Atkinson, Technical Director at bimstore who talked through some key bimstore stats and demonstrated the growth we have achieved over the past few years in terms of users and downloads. Kris also demonstrated a bespoke DOT.bimstore portal created for one of our clients - DOT.bimstore allows organisations to directly organise and monitor their supply chain while continuing to be part of the bimstore ecosystem, meaning we are able to monitor and report on content use.

Adam Ward, Technology Director and a founder of bimstore, talked through many of the bimstore features and the changes that have been made over the past 12 months – including performance increases, improved SEO, new and updated versions of the bimstore bible. Adam also talked through bimstore eye, our augmented reality app and explained about the new features available and the gamification aspect. If you’ve not downloaded this yet – give it a try! This was followed by a demonstration of our new Frog platform and a little bit of info about further features and developments incorporating artificial intelligence and image recognition.

Over the course of the afternoon, there were many insights into what the future holds for bimstore, including new features that will become available in the near future. Of course, some of these remain top secret and as much as we’re keen to share these exciting developments with you, for the time being, our lips are sealed! You’ll have to make sure you keep up to date with all the bimstore news on our website and on our social media channels!
